Susan Heydt and Kevin Elvoy, members of the Penn Gifted cohort, shared some program ideas and encouraged networking among gifted educators. They advocated curriculum compacting, online courses through BlendedSchools.net, and alternative education programs for Pass/Fail credit. For example, in New Hope/Solebury, they participate in the Harvard extension program and students earn four college credits from Harvard per course. All of the teachers I spoke with in this session said that their students earn transcript credit for participating in their gifted education seminars.

[NOTE: This session was two hours long and I only attended the first hour.]
